A Princess Cruise Line crew member was arrested Monday on suspicion of sexually assaulting a female passenger, federal authorities said.
The crew member, who was not immediately identified, was taken into custody after the FBI received a complaint about the assault and dispatched investigators and an evidence response team to the Coral Princess, which docked in Los Angeles on Monday morning, FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said.
The ship was on a 14-day cruise through the Panama Canal, between Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Los Angeles, Eimiller said.
The crew member is expected to appear today in federal court, where he will face formal charges in connection with the incident.
