A San Joaquin County judge is back at work less than a week after she was attacked by a murder suspect in her courtroom.
A Lodi police detective fatally shot 29-year-old David Paradiso on Wednesday after he left the witness stand and lunged at Judge Cinda Fox with a handcrafted 6-inch metal spike. Fox was treated and released from a hospital after being treated for stab wounds on her neck and left arm.
Fox said Monday that she owes her life to Det. Eric Bradley. Although she says her physical wounds are healing, she says she prefers not to talk about the emotional toll of the experience.
Paradiso was accused of killing his girlfriend in 2006.
