Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Tuesday set July 14 as the date for a special election to fill the 32nd Congressional District seat formerly held by Hilda Solis.
Solis, a Democrat from El Monte, gave up her seat to become secretary of Labor in the Obama administration. The Los Angeles County district contains parts of East Los Angeles and the San Gabriel Valley.
A primary election will be held May 19, the same day as a statewide special election in which voters will consider various budget-related measures.
