Times Wire Reports
A rescue official says at least 50 people died when a dam burst outside Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta, sending a wall of water crashing into a crowded neighborhood and submerging hundreds of houses.
The death toll is expected to keep rising, as most people were sleeping when the decades-old dam burst about 2 a.m. today in Cirendeu following hours of torrential rain.
Health Ministry Crisis Center chief Rustam Pakaya said dozens of people remained missing.
