Text messaging: An article in Business on Monday about the origins of the 160-character limit on text messages said that in 1985 Friedhelm Hillebrand was chairman of a committee within Global System for Mobile Communications, or GSM. In fact, at that time the industry standard group was called Groupe Special Mobile. The name was changed to Global System for Mobile Communications in the early 1990s.
