Cinefamily’s Winter Solstice Nevermind Christmas, Hanukkah and Festivus — let’s celebrate the turning of seasons at Cinefamily’s winter solstice party. Ringing in a new tradition, multi-instrumentalist and electronic music wizard Brian LeBarton will offer a different take on “Nanook of the North” than your Film Studies course. The Beck collaborator and composer for Sex Bob-Omb, the fake band in “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World,” will supply a live film score with help from SB member Amir Yaghmai. Throughout the night, deejays Hymnal (of Cut Chemist) and KXLU’s Taylor 2000 will spin cheery selections. 8 p.m. Cinefamily, 611 N. Fairfax Ave. $12. (323) 655-2510.

MUSIC

Odd Future Along their rapid ascent, the 10 or so members of the precocious, provocative teenage rap collective Odd Future have drawn comparisons to the Wu-Tang Clan (for their deep roster), Eminem (for their grim, personal lyrics) and various punk bands (for their us-against-the-world attitude). That won’t quite prepare you for their incendiary antics, but the trove of mix tapes and videos they’ve posted on their Tumblr blog might. The Roxy, 9009 W. Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood. 8 p.m. $12.
