More Americans plan to work during vacation, survey finds
With more Americans worried about the direction of the economy, a new survey found that 52% of employed adults planned to put in some work during their summer vacation this year.
That represented an increase, compared with the 46% of employed Americans who said in a similar survey that they worked through vacation last year.
The latest survey of more than 1,000 workers was conducted by Harris Interactive on behalf of TeamViewer — a producer of remote control and online meetings software. It also said 30% of Americans surveyed said they plan to read work-related emails and 23% plan to take work-related phone calls while on vacation.
The survey also found that employed men were more likely to say they will work during summer vacation than women (56% for men versus 47% for women). Also, workers in the West said they are more likely to read work-related emails on vacation than those living in the South (39% from the West versus 25% from the South).
