Barry Bonds’ former mansion in Beverly Park fetches $26.5 million
A Beverly Park mansion where home run king Barry Bonds once lived has sold for $26.5 million, or about 20% more than what the retired baseball slugger sold it for in 2014 — $22 million.
Reached by a tree-lined drive that ends at a large motor court, the Italian-inspired estate includes a villa-style main house of 17,100 square feet, a two-story guesthouse and a sports court. A swimming pool and an olive grove are also on the 1.85 acres of grounds.
The main house, built in 1998, has an Old World vibe with imported limestone columns, Italian travertine floors, silk carpeting and crystal chandeliers. In the living room, a pair of wall aquariums create visual interest around the fireplace.
A walnut-paneled office, a billiards room, a wine cellar and a gym are among the living spaces. The home theater features tiered seating and a snack bar. In all, there are seven bedrooms and 13 bathrooms.
The property originally came to market in late 2015 for $36 million. More recently it was listed at $31 million, records show.
Alla Furman and Branden and Rayni Williams of Hilton & Hyland, an affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate, were the listing agents. Nancy Chan of Berkshire Hathaway Homeservices California Properties represented the buyer.
