Screenwriting duo lands a pedigreed home in Beachwood Canyon
Screenwriters Keith Merryman and David A. Newman were the buyers of comedian Chris D’Elia’s Beachwood Canyon home, which sold earlier this year for $1.9 million.
Tucked behind walls and gates, the multi-level Mediterranean features decorative tile risers, arched doors and exposed beams. The approximately 2,600 square feet of living space includes an eat-in kitchen, a media room, an office, three bedrooms and four bathrooms.
The formal living/dining room has a wall of arched windows that bring treetop and city views inside.
Outdoors, mature trees and hedges provide a backdrop for various sitting areas and a fenced swimming pool.
The property, which also counts comedian and television host Craig Ferguson as a former owner, came up for sale in September for $2.1 million, records show.
Kathryn Shafer of Keller Williams Realty was the listing agent. Amy Dantzler of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties represented the buyer.
Merryman and Newman have writing credits that include the romantic comedies “Friends with Benefits” (2011) and “Think Like a Man” (2012). The duo is also writing the television adaptation for “Think Like a Man” and will executive produce the series.
D’Elia, 36, has produced two stand-up specials, including last year’s “Incorrigible.” This year he had a part in the Netflix movie “XOXO” and will appear in the upcoming film “Half Magic.”
