Julia Roberts finds a buyer for her oceanfront home in Hawaii
Well, that didn’t take long. Academy Award-winning actress Julia Roberts is in agreement to sell her oceanfront home in Hawaii pending contingencies, according to the Multiple Listing Service.
The pending sale comes after the two-acre estate on the North Shore of Kauai saw its asking price lowered to $19.5 million, down 35% from when it came on the market last year for about $30 million. It was listed for $21.95 million prior to the recent price cut.
Named the Faye Residence for its original owner, prominent sugar plantation manager Hans Peter Faye, the property includes 213 feet of beach frontage along the crescent-shaped Hanalei Bay. Within the grounds is a plantation-style main house and a detached guest house that combine to offer roughly 3,800 square feet of living space.
The main residence, built in 1917, has beamed ceilings, a galley-style kitchen and walls of large picture windows. The two structures each have an ocean-facing porch, and there are seven bedrooms and four bathrooms in all.
The estate last changed hands five years ago for $13.375 million, records show. Neal Norman of Hawaii Life Real Estate holds the listing.
Roberts, 48, won an Oscar in 2000 for her lead role in “Erin Brockovich” and garnered nominations for the films “August: Osage County” (2013), “Pretty Woman” (1990) and “Steel Magnolias” (1989). This year, her film credits include “Mother’s Day” and “Money Monster.”
