Liongate in Bel-Air sells for $46.25 million

The Liongate estate in Bel-Air has sold for $46.25 million.

The name comes from a pair of lion statues standing at the gates and reportedly placed there by onetime owner Kenny Rogers. The singer sold the property in 1983 for $5.8 million.

The 1938 mansion was rebuilt and expanded in 2013 to encompass nearly 24,000 square feet of living space with 11 bedrooms and 15 bathrooms. The interiors also contain a glass elevator that leads to a ballroom, three living rooms, a gym, a 3,000-square-foot master suite, seven fireplaces, a billiard room, a 12-seat theater and a bar.

Updated features include three steam showers, an outdoor living room with heated floors, one-touch lighting, music and temperature controls and a climate-controlled wine room.

The 1.62 acres of grounds contain a newly built guesthouse, a tennis court with a viewing area, an expansive lawn, two fountains, a swimming pool and a poolside fireplace.

Listed last year at $65 million, the estate previously changed hands in 2010 for $12.2 million.
