Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas sells Altadena home for over the asking price
Taboo of Black Eyed Peas fame has wrapped up a quick home sale in Altadena just in time for Christmas.
The musician put the Mediterranean Revival-style house on the market last month for $2.175 million and in six days had an offer in hand. The sale price was $2.225 million, or $50,000 over the asking price.
The two-story home, built in the 1940s and updated in 2007 by Franco Noravian, has a traditional vibe with coffered and beamed ceilings, detailed molding and hardwood floors. A two-way fireplace with a marble surround is shared by the formal living and dining rooms.
Other living spaces include an updated kitchen, a family room, five bedrooms and 5.75 bathrooms. A sixth bedroom was converted into a custom closet/dressing room. There’s also a soundproof recording studio.
Patios and balconies provide outdoor space for entertaining. Lawns, mature trees and a detached garage also lie within about a half-acre of grounds.
Vicky Botsford of Partners Trust and Thomas Atamian of Dilbeck Estates were the co-listing agents. Sharon Verani of Sotheby’s International Realty repped the buyer.
Taboo, whose legal name is Jaime Luis Gomez, is a six-time Grammy winner as a member of the Black Eyed Peas. Among the bestselling artists of all time, the pop/hip-hop group has hits that include “Where Is the Love,” “My Humps” and “I Gotta Feeling.”
He bought the house in 2007 for $2.2 million, records show.
