Oscar-winning set designer Victor Zolfo sells in Sherman Oaks
Set designer Victor Zolfo, who shared an Academy Award for his work on the 2008 film “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” has sold his home in Sherman Oaks for $1.425 million.
The Midcentury Modern-style house, built in 1959, sits up from the street and has a cantilevered wing that creates a carport off the front of the home. Two flights of stairs lead up to the front door.
Inside, the open-area floor plan features European oak floors, contemporary fixtures and walls of windows. A free-standing fireplace creates a divider between the living and dining areas. The kitchen has been updated with Heath ceramic tile and quartz countertops.
Three bedrooms and two updated bathrooms also lie within the 1,731 square feet of living space.
Outside, there’s a covered patio and lawns that extend towards the hillside. Tall privacy hedges and planters filled with drought-tolerant cuttings complete the setting.
Joshua Myler and Jeff Kohl of the Agency were the listing agents. Jeanne Valvo of John Aaroe Group represented the buyer.
Zolfo, 53, has film credits that include “The Time Machine” (2002), “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” (2005), “The Avengers” (2012) and “Deepwater Horizon” (2016). He is the set designer for the upcoming sci-fi blockbuster “Alien: Covenant.”
