Winners of this year’s affordable housing awards
The San Diego Housing Federation last week awarded several individuals and projects for subsidized housing efforts aimed at low-income San Diegans. The Ruby Awards have been going on since 1990 and the federation said winners have shown excellence in the construction and preservation of affordable homes and sustainable community development. Awards are decided by a panel of 12 jurors.

Atmosphere
The Atmosphere housing complex in San Diego is one of the most expensive subsidized housing projects in downtown at a price tag of $79.3 million. The 205-unit complex offers subsidized rent for families and individuals ranging from $525 a month to $1,250 a month. Atmosphere is slated to achieve LEED Silver Certification for sustainability and judges said it was an example of revitalizing an underused city site.
