Person with handgun shot and killed by police in Pacoima

A person was shot and killed Monday afternoon by police after officers responded to a family dispute in Pacoima, authorities said Monday night.
About 4:35 p.m. Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to the call in the 13000 block of Ottoman Street.
When officers arrived, a suspect produced a handgun, “at which point an officer involved shooting occurred,” the LAPD said in a tweet.
The suspect then fled on foot through a nearby home and into an alley, at which point officers fired at the person again, according to preliminary reports. The suspect was shot, fell to the ground and was taken into custody, according to police.
L.A. Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the suspect dead. A handgun was recovered at the scene, according to police. No officers were injured.
No further information has been released.
