Man in serious condition after LAPD shooting in Leimert Park
A man was hospitalized after a police shooting in Leimert Park on Monday night, according to authorities.
Officers were called around 7:20 p.m. to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon suspect in the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and South Bronson Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Callers told police the man was armed with a handgun.
At least one officer opened fire after arriving at the scene, said Officer Drake Madison, an LAPD spokesperson.
The man, described as 30 to 40 years old, was shot, taken into custody and brought to a hospital, where he was listed in “stable but serious condition,” police said.
No officers were injured, Madison said.
Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard from South Bronson Avenue to Crenshaw Boulevard would be impacted for several hours while officers investigate, police said.
