Police shoot man during confrontation in Watts, authorities said

Los Angeles police shot and wounded a man early Friday following a confrontation in Watts, authorities said.
Police confirmed that officers fired guns at East 103rd Street and Lou Dillon Avenue around 6:40 a.m. An LAPD spokesperson said officers fired after a man “produced a gun” in an alley.
The unidentified man was shot in the leg after he allegedly waved a gun, according to a report on a police scanner. Officers called for an ambulance and backup after the shooting by the police.
The man was taken to a hospital where he is in critical condition, according to the LAPD.
A gun was recovered at the scene. No officers were injured.
The shooting remains under investigation.
