Blink-182 is coming to Coachella.

The influential SoCal pop-punk trio will perform Friday evening in the festival’s Sahara tent — its first concert since 2014 with its classic lineup of singer-guitarist Tom DeLonge, singer-bassist Mark Hoppus and drummer Travis Barker.

For 20-plus years, the Sahara Tent has hosted the top names in dance music and provided some A-list artists their signature Coachella moments.

A breakthrough set at Coachella can turbocharge an artist’s career. These buzzy acts are our best bets to become headliners in 2024 and beyond.

Blink hadn’t previously been announced as part of the lineup for Coachella, which kicks off this weekend at Indio’s Empire Polo Club with headliners Bad Bunny, Blackpink and Frank Ocean and will repeat April 21-23. But its name was on the schedule posted online late Wednesday in a tweet that read “Take off your pants and jacket” — a reference, of course, to the band’s double-platinum 2001 LP.

DeLonge, who quit Blink in 2015 and was replaced by Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio, revealed last year that he’d reunited with Hoppus and Barker amid Hoppus’ treatment for cancer. The band released a single, “Edging,” and said it would tour in 2023. Last month, Blink announced that the first leg of its tour had been postponed due to an injury to Barker’s finger. Its first gig after Coachella is set for May 4 in St. Paul, Minn.

It’s not clear if Blink-182 will return to Indio for the fest’s second weekend.
