Soon after Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert announced their surprising divorce, rumors and speculation began swirling around country music’s golden couple.

The crooners, who had been wed for four years, announced their amicable split on Monday, with the divorce being finalized just hours later.

“This is not the future we envisioned,” their joint statement said. “And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues.”

Lambert’s rep declined to elaborate further on rumors surrounding the twosome.

By Tuesday, TMZ reported that Shelton filed for divorce two weeks prior because he believed his wife had been unfaithful on more than one occasion -- pointing the finger at country singer Chris Young, who opened for the “Little Red Wagon” singer, and another man who is not a country star. The latter is allegedly the one who prompted Shelton to bail on the marriage, the site said.

“The Voice” mentor is said to be very upset and has told Lambert to get her rescue animals off his Oklahoma ranch. They have no children together and reportedly had a prenuptial agreement in place.

Over the weekend, the “Sangria” singer, 39, sported his wedding ring while pal-ing around with Adam Sandler during the NASCAR Sprint Cup race in New Hampshire. The “Honey Bee” crooner was smiling and in “a fine mood,” sources told Us Weekly.

Meanwhile, Lambert, 31, was overcome with emotion onstage during a concert in Cheyenne, Wyo. and asked fans to finish up “The House That Built Me” for her.

The crying may not have stopped there, according to People magazine, which chimed in with its own sources saying that the petite “Kerosene” hitmaker is “doing the best she can and taking it day by day.”

The Grammy-winning songstress is “sad and trying to process everything,” the mag said.

E! News mined for the source of the couple’s marital woes, claiming that they had trust issues and that their busy schedules did little to ameliorate the situation.

“Trust was an issue for both of them,” a source told the publication. “It went along with having to spend a lot of time apart. Rumors of infidelity put stress on them. Despite denials, even just rumors of cheating are still hard to hear.”

Lambert insiders told E! that she would come out stronger after the ordeal and that she’s currently “focusing on her music, family and friends.” (Perhaps we should expect a few more details in her next single?)

The country stars sparked their romance in 2005 when they performed “You’re the Reason God Made Oklahoma” together at CMT’s 100 Greatest Duets concert. They wed in May 2011 and openly kept fans plugged into their romance -- especially when tabloid rumors dogged their marriage -- with more duets, social media banter, revelatory interviews and gushy acceptance speeches at awards shows. The fan outcry over the split was palpable following the announcement.

This is the first divorce for Lambert and the second for Shelton. He was previously wed to longtime girlfriend Kaynette Gern from 2003 to 2006.
