Pet lover and talk-radio host Jillian Barberie was bitten on the lip by a cocker spaniel over the weekend, but like any true dog person, she ain't blaming the animal for 10 stitches' worth of damage.

The former TV personality did, however, tweet a few shots of her damaged mug, which she faux lamented on Facebook. A plastic surgeon sewed her up in the wee hours Sunday morning. (See her "before" face above, and the "after" images below.)

"Oh my beau[t]iful face! It has been ruined!! LOL (kidding)," she joked, noting that the animal wasn't being aggressive when he snapped at her. "My tender, beautiful, luscious, ripped open lip. Awwwww Xo," she added later.

Her background in animal rescue — she has lots of pre-owned pets, started a pet adoption segment on "Good Day LA" 20 years ago and has continued with another on KABC-AM (790) radio, her current home — seems to be what put her in the line of fire.

"You know me and dogs...... I think I'm the dog whisperer," she said in another tweet. "They warned me he was a snapper too!"

Barberie said she was holding the dog, who "lost his best friend last week," when he bit her. The pup's parents went out of their way to send get-well wishes.

By Monday, Barberie's wound was looking better — well enough that the damage to her lip didn't keep her off talk radio. The stitches will come out Friday, she said.
