Beyonce, Solange and Jay Z speak: Move along, folks, nothing to see

Solange Knowles, Beyonce and Jay Z have spoken -- and the essence of what they’re saying is: World, you should get over it already, ‘cause we have.

It’s been days since surveillance video leaked online Monday showing the sisters and Jay Z on May 5 involved in an elevator fight that had Solange swinging and kicking at the rapper while Queen B mostly stayed out of the fray and let a bodyguard do his thing.

The grainy, black-and-white video had no audio, however, leaving the gist of the disagreement unclear and instead spawning speculation, social-media spying, Twitter hashtags and memes. Not to mention lots and lots of stories. Sadly for gossips everywhere, the Knowles ladies still weren’t giving up the goods Thursday.

“As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident,” reads the statement they gave to the Associated Press. “But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it.

“Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family.”

The statement does take time to note that Solange was not drunk and hadn’t been behaving erratically during the evening, which included stops at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala and its after-party at the Standard hotel, home of the infamous elevator.

And that’s how rumors bite the dust. At least officially. The trio’s statement continued:

“At the end of the day families have problems and we’re no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We’ve put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same.”

Well, if you say so. But we still have that video footage bookmarked, just in case ...
