Stacey Dash joins Fox News as a regular contributor

Stacey Dash, the actress best known for her performance as Dionne in “Clueless” and her public endorsement of presidential candidate Mitt Romney in 2012, has taken a contributor gig with Fox News.

Dash will offer “cultural analysis and commentary” on daytime and prime-time shows, the network said Wednesday in a release confirming rumors that had bubbled up earlier this month.

“Stacey is an engaging conversationalist whose distinctive viewpoints amongst her Hollywood peers have spawned national debates,” said Bill Shine, the network’s exec VP of programming.

The 47-year-old actress is no stranger to Fox News, having appeared on the channel’s shows “Fox & Friends” and “Outnumbered.” Since the tweet in favor of Romney, she has also publicly expressed support for stay-at-home moms and veterans.

“Feminism is being able to have the choice,” she told Elle on Wednesday. “The choice to be a CEO, to be an executive, to be a journalist, to be a congresswoman, to be a mother, a stay-at-home mother, to be a wife.”

She told the mag that she might one day run for office, noting, “I come from nothing. I understand what I’m talking about.”

Dash also retweeted some harsh, racially tinged comments about her move. “[S]he truly thinks she’s a white woman,” one said. “WOW. Turncoat ...,” another one said before turning vulgar.

“WOW! I used to like you so much. You have proven yourself mentally ill, especially now by joining FAUX News. Pathetic bigot,” read another retweeted personal attack.

Again, it’s something she’s no stranger to: Her support of the Romney ticket subjected her to a flood of pointed personal criticism as well.

“I’m ... saddened and shocked, really shocked,” she told Piers Morgan at the time, after he asked whether she thought the abuse was more because she was black or because she was a Hollywood actress. “Really shocked. But you can’t expect everyone to agree with you.”

Dash, incidentally, said she was a Barack Obama voter when he ran for president the first time.
