The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), which opened Tuesday at the Los Angeles Convention Center, presented a feast of sights and sounds as costumed characters, enthusiastic gamers and huge multi-screened presentations combine to show off the world of video games.

Though gameplay is king, just the spectacle of the event can be entertaining. Here are some of the images from inside the event as companies went all out to hype their products.
