How are we supposed to make small talk with our colleagues now that we can no longer discuss Melinda Doolittle?
Who will make us nod our heads in agreement like Simon? Who will confuse us like Paula? And who will comfort us by always knowing just what to say now that Ryan Seacrest no longer graces our television screens with his smiling blandness?
The networks know there is no one salve to heal our “Idol” ache, and so instead they offer us a smorgasbord of reality competitions this summer season.
