Hollywood’s hairiest stars

By Patrick Kevin Day and Deborah Netburn Benicio Del Toro had some help from master creature designer Rick Baker to turn into the uber-hairy wolfman in Universal's "The Wolfman." But even without pounds of creature effects makeup, Del Toro is follically blessed. And he's not the only one in Hollywood not ashamed to sport some hair in the land of plucking, tweezing and waxing. These other stars carry their fur with pride, whether naturally grown or applied.

Mr. James Bond wasn't afraid to bare his hairy chest in the 007 romp "Dr. No." That, combined with his thick head of hair, made him the '60s ideal of the man's man. But in later years, Connery's famous fur migrated to the southern hemisphere of his head. Luckily, the Scottish Connery could always rely on a kilt to maximize his hair-to-skin ratio.

Borat (Sacha Baron Cohen) sported his share of hair, but his squat sidekick, Azamat, stole the show when he bared all of his bountiful bushels of man-pelt in their nude wrestling match.

The Australian bad boy rarely appears on-screen anymore without his best costar: his hair. The longer the locks and the bushier the beard, the happier the Crowe. The actor has been nominated three times for the Academy Award and won once. Guess which performance got Crowe the Oscar? (It was "Gladiator," in which he sports a beard.)

Vilanch is a hairy, gay, straight-edge, Jewish friend of Whoopi. A frequent contributor to the Academy Awards “comedy” “script,” he's also a former contestant on “Hollywood Fit Club.” His trademark (very useful when you are only sort of funny) is a rotund profile, a mop of longish hair on top and a bushy beard obscuring two-thirds of his face. The hair colors don’t always match, but hey, that’s comedy folks!

Everybody loves a hairy guy. Or at least everybody loved Rupert Boneham, the two-time "Survivor" loser who became a fan favorite. He was so popular, in fact, that when CBS asked America to vote for the "Survivor" contestant they most wanted to see win $1 million, Rupert Boneham received four out of every five votes (as well as a hefty check). Hairy equals furry, and furry equals cute!
