Michael C. McMillen LACMA’s emeritus curator of contemporary art, Howard N. Fox, engages the sculptor, installation artist, filmmaker and cultural anthropologist in a discussion of his creative process and artistic obsessions. Omar Souleyman The Syrian guitarist has quietly become one of the most influential figures in experimental music today. His lonely, wandering melody lines and unorthodox approach to writing and arranging have seeped into bands such as Gang Gang Dance and Rainbow Arabia. “Jazeera Nights,” a collection of live recordings, draws heavily from dance music and pan-Arabic folk.
