TV This Week
SUNDAY
In “Masterpiece Mystery! Case Histories” Jason Isaacs (below) plays an ex-cop working as a private detective in Scotland, who struggles with personal demons, a complicated relationship with his former police partner, an ex-wife, their adorable daughter, and, in this episode, a crime novelist caught up in a road rage incident. (KOCE, 9 p.m.)
First comes love, then comes marriage … then another marriage, then another, and so on and so forth. Call it polygamy, call it plural marriage, call it “Big Love,” it’s just the latest taboo topic explored on a new “Our America With Lisa Ling.” (OWN, 10 p.m.)
MONDAY
First comes love, then comes marriage … then come “Monster In-Laws.” Relationship experts Dr. Tom Kersting and Mel Robbins intervene in disputes involving married couples and their less significant others in this new reality series. (A&E, 10 p.m.)
TUESDAY
The special “Zombies: A Living History” takes a ghoulish look at … “Braaains.” Um, excuse me, Mr. Undead Person, we’re trying to put out a newspaper here, and … “Me want braaains.” Listen, don’t make me call — Ouch! Stop that! Help! (History, 8 p.m.)
WEDNESDAY
Very cold cases: Jack the Ripper’s 19th century killing spree serves as the dark inspiration for the modern-day crime drama “Whitechapel,” and a new “Nova” probes a 5,000-year-old “Iceman Murder Mystery.” (BBC America, 7 and 10 p.m.; KCET, 9 p.m.)
THURSDAY
Children of all ages can, and should, enjoy the classic animated special “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” featuring Linus and Sally (below) and all your Peanuts favorites. But you’ll want to put the wee ones to bed before the return of Mike Judge’s cartoon cretins “Beavis and Butt-Head.” (ABC, 8 p.m.; MTV, 10 p.m.)
FRIDAY
What if the creatures from fairy tales — werewolves, trolls and other beasts that go bump in the night — wreaked havoc in the present day? That’s the premise of the new fantasy drama/police procedural “Grimm.” With David Giuntoli. (NBC, 9 p.m.)
SATURDAY
Assorted spookiness: Rebecca Romijn stars in the supernatural thriller “Possessing Piper Rose,” Catherine Bell is back in the made-for-cable sequel “The Good Witch’s Family,” and Ving Rhames faces down a “Zombie Apocalypse” in a new terror tale. (Lifetime, 8 p.m.; Hallmark, 9 p.m.; Syfy, 9 p.m.)
