NFL Kickoff 2011: Back to Football: This new special takes a look ahead to the first full Sunday of football and previews the season’s major story lines. Also, Bob Costas interviews New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan (8 p.m. NBC).
Voices From Inside the Towers: This new special documents the many harrowing and heartbreaking stories — some never heard before — of love and loss on 9/11 (9 p.m. History).
Portraits From Ground Zero: In the aftermath of the World Trade Center collapse, photographer Andrea Booher took thousands of pictures of the rescue and recovery operation. In this powerful new documentary, airing without commercials, Booher tracks down some of the people she photographed and asks them to share their stories 10 years later (10 p.m. A&E).
MOVIES
127 Hours: Director Danny Boyle’s true and thoroughly engrossing drama boasts a bravura performance by James Franco as a carefree climber who faces the challenge of his life when an accident leaves his arm pinned by a boulder. With Amber Tamblyn and Kate Mara (8 p.m. HBO).
