Montana Sen. Jon Tester’s got your Pearl Jam tickets
WASHINGTON – Want to see Pearl Jam’s only non-festival show this year? Montana Sen. Jon Tester has you covered.
The Democrat, who is in a tough reelection battle against Republican Rep. Denny Rehberg this fall, is offering 100 tickets to the sold-out Sept. 30 show in Missoula. Tickets were $250 a pop on the senator’s campaign website, www.jontester.com, Thursday.
Turns out Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament is a fellow native of Big Sandy, where Tester has his family farm, and is a longtime friend of the senator’s family, the campaign said.
“Jon is the real deal,” said Ament, whose father, a barber, gave Tester the first of his now-trademark flattop haircuts. “He’s a hardworking Montana farmer who has never forgotten who he works for or where he comes from. He’s one of us, a rare gem who truly represents Montanans in D.C.”
Tester, first elected on a Democratic wave in 2006, is seeking a second term in a race the non-partisan Cook Political Report rates a “toss up.”
Rehberg, a six-term, at-large congressman, who is also a Montana rancher and business owner, is among the GOP’s best hopes for picking up a Democratic-held seat this fall as Republicans seek to wrest control of the Senate.
Tickets are first come, first served for the rock band’s show. For those who miss the crush, the campaign is also offering a chance to win its “Best Seats in the World” – two on-stage recliner seats, VIP passes and other goodies – for a $10 donation.
