Sage Stallone died of natural causes, L.A. coroner says
Sage Stallone, eldest son of Sylvester Stallone, died of natural causes -- heart disease, specifically -- the Los Angeles County coroner’s office said Thursday.
The actor-writer-producer died of coronary artery disease, with the coroner mentioning the 36-year-old’s history of heavy smoking, L.A. Now reported. Family members reportedly said he’d cut back before his death.
Toxicology tests came back “negative except for a sub-therapeutic level of hydrocodone,” or Vicodin, the coroner said. The drug played no role in Stallone’s death.
Sage Stallone had undergone dental surgery, with five teeth extracted, two weeks before his death, according to his mother, Sasha Csack, who suggested at the time that he might have been taking painkillers.
A housekeeper found Sage’s body at his house on July 13. Police were investigating the source of several empty, commercial-size prescription-pill bottles found at the scene.
