John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John’s mystifying Christmas video

As Mariah Carey and the Roots proved on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” on Tuesday night, very occasionally an original Christmas song can deliver as much cheer as one of the old standbys.

But most of the time? Not so much.

Take, for example, “I Think You Might Like It,” the sole original from John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John’s new album, “This Christmas.”

It’s a lightly country-flavored ditty about returning to one’s hometown for the holidays, harmless in theory but charmless in practice, especially as compared to the “Grease” stars’ serviceable (if saccharine) renditions of “Winter Wonderland” and “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.”

Should anything from “This Christmas” survive beyond Dec. 31, we at Pop & Hiss are confident it won’t be “I Think You Might Like It.”

Or at least it wouldn’t have been before the song’s music video -- an astonishingly hokey clip you must see in order to fully appreciate -- hit YouTube on Wednesday.

Now, the tune seems destined for camp-classic status, an enshrining process we’re happy to speed along by bringing it to you below.
