Alice sets off to save the Mad Hatter in new ‘Alice Through the Looking Glass’ trailer

Alice's "textbook case of female hysteria" has her making her way back to Lewis Carroll's Wonderland.

"Alice Through the Looking Glass," Disney's follow-up to it's 2010 live-action "Alice in Wonderland," debuted its full-length trailer on Facebook on Tuesday, revealing the scope of the heroine's latest journey through the looking glass.

This time around, real-world Alice (Mia Wasikowska) is diagnosed with female hysteria and escapes a mental hospital to return to her friends on the other side of the looking glass. When she makes it through, the Blue Caterpillar (Alan Rickman) tells her she has to embark on a quest to save her "truest friend" the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp) in a race against Time (Sacha Baron Cohen).

While Tim Burton directed the 2010 film, director James Bobin takes the reigns on the sequel, with Burton serving as a producer. The returning cast also includes Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, Michael Sheen as the White Rabbit, Stephen Fry as the Cheshire Cat and Timothy Spall as Bayard.

The latest look at the fantasy adventure was set to Pink's cover of "White Rabbit" and was accompanied by a live Facebook Q&A with Depp and Bobin on Tuesday during which they answered fan questions.

Disney's live-action reboot of its 1951 animated classic went on to earn three Academy Award nominations, including wins for art direction and costume design. The film took in about $334 million at the domestic box office and grossed more than $1 billion worldwide, becoming the sixth film ever to surpass the lofty box-office milestone.

Alice falls through the looking glass on May 27.
