Fan-sourced Bruce Springsteen doc heading to theaters

Rather than the large-scale stadiums he usually appears at, Bruce Springsteen will soon be coming to a theater near you.

Material submitted by more than 2,000 Springsteen fans around the world makes up the film “Springsteen & I.” Billed as “a collective filmmaking experience,” the movie is credited to director Baillie Walsh and will hit cinemas July 22 and July 30, playing at some 500 theaters across the country, including 29 in the Los Angeles area.

Described as “an emotional journey through the personal insights and reflections of their fellow Springsteen fans,” the film will also feature previously unreleased archival concert footage and performances from the recent Wrecking Ball tour by Springsteen and the E Street Band.

With a career now spanning more than 40 years in music, Springsteen has sold more than 120 million albums worldwide and has received some 20 Grammy Awards and an Oscar.

In a statement, Ridley Scott, one of the film’s producers, said: “This beautifully crafted film provides a unique insight into the powerful bond between a recording artist and those who connect so profoundly with his music.”
