Kevin Hart to receive Comedic Genius honor at MTV Movie Awards
It’s official: Kevin Hart is a genius.
The 35-year-old comedian and actor will be honored with the Comedic Genius Award at this year’s MTV Movie Awards, the network announced Monday evening.
Known for his bombastic yet self-deprecating style, motormouthed quips, diminutive stature and tireless work ethic, Hart can currently be seen in the big-screen comedy “Get Hard” opposite Will Ferrell, the first recipient of the Comedic Genius Award.
Hart’s other movie credits include “Ride Along,” “Think Like a Man” and its sequel, “About Last Night,” and “The Wedding Ringer.”
Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel will present the award, which MTV said is intended to “honor Hart for his bold and irreverent comedic style that has captivated audiences from his movies and sitcoms, to stand-up specials, award show performances and in front of packed arenas of fans.”
Also set to receive kudos at the show is “Insurgent” star Shailene Woodley, this year’s recipient of the Trailblazer Award.
In the competitive realm, the films “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “The Fault in Our Stars” and “Neighbors” lead the pack with seven nominations each.
Comedian Amy Schumer will host the MTV Movie Awards on April 12.
