By now you may have heard that a certain four-member band known for its colorful stage persona is going to be kicking off a national tour by playing an intimate L.A. gig.

What’s that you say? Mick, Keith, Ronnie and Charlie? Never heard of ‘em.

Pop & Hiss is referring to Pepe, Alex, Miguel and La Marisoul, the quartet otherwise known as La Santa Cecilia. The bilingual, pop-fusion, Latin Grammy-nominated L.A. band, which got its start many moons ago at La Cita, will perform a free show Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Amoeba Music on Sunset, a set that will showcase the new album “Treinta Dias.”

Recently signed to the Universal label, La Santa Cecilia earlier this year released its first single off the new record, “El Hielo (Ice),” a deceptively easygoing bossa nova-infused tune that personalizes the plight of undocumented migrants. The plaintive ballad draws on the personal experiences of some of the band members, all of whom are children of Latin American immigrants. La Santa Cecilia recently performed “El Hielo” at an immigration-rights rally in Washington, D.C., timed to coincide with the U.S. Congress’ current deliberations about enacting comprehensive immigration-reform legislation.

Reportedly, La Santa Cecilia will carry its message forward this week by giving another performance as part of the annual May Day rally that in past years has drawn hundreds of thousands of pro-immigration marchers to downtown Los Angeles. The band will cap off its busy week by performing at the annual Los Lobos Cinco de Mayo festival at the Greek Theatre, on a bill headlined by the iconic East L.A. rock group that also includes Los Super 7, Willie G of Thee Midniters, Kinky, Robert Randolph, El Chicano and other guests.
