Taylor Swift’s chances of pulling an Adele may soon be dashed. By Adele.

Swift, the creator of last year’s biggest-selling album, “1989,” is poised to repeat that feat in 2015 with the same album, with sales since January of more than 2 million units, according to Nielsen Music. (That’s on top of the 3.6 million she sold in 2014.)

If “1989” were to finish the year on top, Swift would match Adele’s accomplishment with “21,” which finished both 2011 and 2012 as each year’s biggest seller -- the first time that had happened since SoundScan began tracking music sales in 1991.

But now the British soul singer is threatening to stymie that plan.

On Wednesday the music gossip site Hits Daily Double said Adele’s next album, widely anticipated as a surefire smash, would come out Nov. 20, with a lead single due several weeks earlier.

A representative for the singer declined to comment on the report. But Hits added that Adele has signed a deal with NBC “for four big TV looks” during the album’s rollout, including appearances on “Today” and “Saturday Night Live,” as well as a prime-time special of her own.

Issued in early 2011, “21” has sold more than 11 million copies in the United States. Adele’s most recent release was “Skyfall,” her Oscar-winning theme song from the 2012 James Bond film of the same title.
