Jenny Lewis details new album ‘The Voyager’
Jenny Lewis fans have waited nearly six years for a proper follow-up to 2008’s “Acid Tongue.” It looks like the wait may soon be over.
Lewis, the north star of contemporary L.A. indie-folk songwriters, has set a July release date for “The Voyager,” her new solo LP for Warner, according to various sources, including Pitchfork and Stereogum. It comes four years after her most recent record, 2010’s collaboration with Jonathan Rice as Jenny & Johnny.
During a recent show at the Roxy, Lewis played several new songs to a sold-out crowd, with titles including “She’s Not Me,” “Love U 4ever,” “The New You” and “Slippery Slopes.”
In addition to the planned album, Lewis contributed several new songs to the film “Song One,” which premiered at Sundance in January.
In that film, directed by Kate Barker Froyland, Anne Hathaway plays an archaeologist with a sick brother, and she becomes entangled with his favorite musician.
Lewis also recently composed for and music-supervised the new Elizabeth Olsen- and Dakota Fanning-starring drama “Very Good Girls,” and collaborated with Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij on the single “Completely Not Me” for the soundtrack of the most recent season of “Girls.”
