Chris Brown suffered a seizure early Friday following a whirlwind week for the Grammy-winning R&B singer that brought on “intense fatigue” and “extreme emotional stress,” his rep said.

“While in the studio working early this morning, Chris suffered a non-epileptic seizure (NES),” Brown’s rep told E! News and the Associated Press.

The L.A. city Fire Department reportedly rushed to the Hollywood recording studio the Record Plant at 1:09 a.m. Friday morning after receiving a 911 call about Brown, TMZ reported. Brown is said to have refused treatment and refused to be transported to a hospital. The site said that he also suffered from seizures as a child.

“He was not hospitalized. His doctor tended to him this afternoon and attributes the NES to intense fatigue and extreme emotional stress, both due to the continued onslaught of unfounded legal matters and the nonstop negativity.’”

Those legal matters come courtesy of a May hit-and-run incident that occurred while the “Look At Me Now” singer was still serving five-years’ felony probation for assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. The fender-bender case saw Brown briefly behind bars Monday despite pleading not guilty to the charges. Brown was released after about 45 minutes on his own recognizance until the Aug. 15 trial set for the case.

The “nonstop negativity” is the infamy surrounding the assault and all the run-ins with the law he’s had while on probation.

The 24-year-old announced this week that he would be retiring from music following the August release of his next album, “X,” because he’s tired of being famous for something besides his musical talent. The tweets by which he made the announcement have since been removed.

“Don’t worry mainstream America. After this X album, it’ll probably be my last album,” Brown tweeted Tuesday. “Being famous is amazing when it’s for ur music and talent. I’m tired of being famous for a mistake I made when i was 18. I’m cool & over it!”

But clearly he isn’t over it, if that “mistake” is still resulting in decisions that affect his career.
