1600 Penn: Television’s newest take on the White House gets a “sneak preview” prior to its official Jan. 10 premiere. Bill Pullman, Josh Gad and Jenna Elfman star (9:30 p.m. NBC).
Hawaii Five-0: George Takei guest stars as Chin’s (Daniel Dae Kim) uncle in this new episode. Takei also appeared in a 1975 story in the original incarnation of this series (10 p.m. CBS).

DreamWorks Dragons: Gift of the Night Fury: Based on the hit animated film “How to Train Your Dragon,” this new special returns to the villagers of Berk as they prepare for the holidays (8 p.m. Fox).
Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas: This holiday special, based on the “Ice Age” films, finds the Arctic herd busily decorating for the holidays. Ray Romano and John Leguizamo lead the voice cast (8:30 p.m. Fox).
MOVIES
A Christmas Carol: George C. Scott stars as Ebenezer Scrooge in this 1984 adaptation of the Charles Dickens’ classic. Edward Woodward and Angela Pleasence also star (8 p.m. AMC).
SPORTS
College basketball: Gotham Classic: Detroit Mercy at Syracuse (4 p.m. ESPN2).
Pro basketball: The Clippers visit the Detroit Pistons (4:30 p.m. FS Prime).
Football: The New York Jets visit the Tennessee Titans (5:30 p.m. ESPN).
