‘Empire’ season finale: Five things we want to see tonight

The day has come where the show on everyone’s lips, “Empire,” will have our jaws dropping, hearts pumping and heads bumping. With the show’s two-hour season finale airing Wednesday at 8 p.m., here’s what we’d like to see:

1) Boo Boo Kitty, also known as Anika, needs to be put in her place -- and Cookie is the right person for the job. In the world of hip-hop, loyalty is key. But when she left Empire for its rival Creedmoor, Anika did the unspeakable. We have yet to see Cookie get truly physical, but I think it’s time for her to show us what she learned all them years behind bars.

2) Folks say karma has a way of leveling the playing field, but when will Lucious’ turn come? Let’s count the ways in which he’s been evil this season: He fostered hatred and jealousy among his three sons; cheated on his fiancé with his ex-wife, impregnated Jamal’s wife, forced Hakeem’s love Camilla to disappear, and killed Cookie’s cousin Bunky. He needs to just die already.

3) Andre’s musical therapist Michelle (played by vocal powerhouse Jennifer Hudson) needs to take us to church. We know that she’s into prayer, which only means that her pipes need the chance to float in between the pews and into the rafters of a sanctuary. Musically, gospel is probably the only genre “Empire” has yet to touch, but I can see it now: Jennifer Hudson, flanked by a choir, screaming her face off. Let the church say, “Amen!”

4) Perhaps my favorite moment of the season was Jamal’s coming out, no less to a remix of his father’s hit. But I want to see him flourish even more. He and that gorgeous specimen of a man (the videographer) should elope, or at the very least enter into a committed relationship. We need black gay love on television.

5) We know that the season finale will have black royalty among its cast: Patti LaBelle is singing a duet with Jamal. But we will also see Snoop Dogg (who’ll perform his new single “Peaches N Cream”) and Rita Ora in addition to the mainstays. With so much great talent in the building, we need a “We are the World” moment led by Lucious and Cookie.

Bonus: It would be great to get some more interaction between Cookie and Porsha, the unsung hero of the entire series. Their comedic dynamic is the best thing since sliced bread.
