FX orders ‘The Strain’ from Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan
FX has placed an order for “The Strain,” a drama series from Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan that will be based on their trilogy of novels.
Del Toro and Hogan, who co-wrote the pilot, will be executive producers of the project, along with writer/producer Carlton Cuse, who will be the series’ showrunner. Del Toro also directed the pilot.
The cast includes Corey Stoll, Mia Maestro, Sean Astin, Kevin Durand and Natalie Brown.
“The Strain” tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Stoll), the head of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are summoned to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism.
As the strain spreads, Goodweather, his team and a group of civilians wage war for the fate of humanity itself.
