SAN DIEGO — A former Camp Pendleton Marine who bilked the military out of $95,000 in fraudulent housing reimbursements was sentenced in San Diego federal court Friday to four months in custody.
Devin Alario, of Temecula, was also ordered to pay back the full amount of the losses, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Alario, who was a gunnery sergeant, pleaded guilty to the fraud, admitting to inflating the cost of his rent on reimbursements requests. He submitted false receipts, listed fictitious landlords and addresses and prepared fake leases, according to his plea agreement.
The fraud occurred from 2009 to 2011, authorities said.
