Mario Lopez celebrates Hispanic roots in his memoir
Miami, Oct 12 (EFE). — U.S. actor and television host Mario Lopez, who became known for his role in the series “Saved by the Bell,” is now making his debut as a writer with “Just Between Us,” a memoir in which he discusses the importance his family and his Hispanic heritage have played in his life.
“My parents ... are Mexican immigrants from Culiacan ... From them, I learned about love for my family and the importance of working to achieve your dreams,” the actor, who currently hosts the entertainment program “Extra” and the radio show “On With Mario,” told Efe.
“My roots have been essential, because they inculcated in me the fact that family is the number one priority,” said Lopez in Spanish, although with a bit of an American accent.
The actor, who starred on “Saved by the Bell” from 19891993, spoke about his children, saying with pride that “Gia, 4, is taking Spanish classes and Nico, 18 months, talks in Spanish.”
He said he would love to do a TV or movie project in Spanish, adding that “I can’t say who I’d like to work with because there’s so much talent. But I’d certainly like to do something in Spanish.”
At present, the 41yearold is enjoying his family and career, at the same time that he’s promoting the book that he says is a way to say thankyou to his loved ones.
“That’s why it’s entitled ‘Between Us,’ because I’ve dedicated it to my family and to the people who have supported and inspired me over the years,” he said.
