October 27, 2003, New York, NY – Hoy showed daily circulation gains of more than 15,000 and Sunday circulation gains of more than 4,000 for the six-month period ended Sept. 30, according to the September 2003 Publisher’s Statement as filed with the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC), subject to audit.

Hoy, the nation’s second-largest and fastest growing Spanish-language paper, remained the dominant Spanish-language paper in the New York metropolitan area and introduced a new daily edition in Chicago.

Daily circulation at Hoy rose 20 percent to 93,902. Sunday circulation increased 15 percent to 34,484.

“Hoy’s continued growth in New York and rapid acceptance in Chicago is proof that we are fulfilling a need in the diverse Hispanic communities of these two major markets,” said Louis Sito, Publisher, President and CEO of Hoy and Vice President/Hispanic Media for Tribune Co. “We thank our longtime readers in New York and new readers in Chicago for making Hoy part of their daily lives.”

Chicago Hoy was launched Sept. 2 to serve Chicago’s 1.6 million Hispanics. The Monday-Friday paper took the place of Exito!, the 10-year-old Spanish-language weekly published by the Chicago Tribune, and is led by the same experienced sales and management team.

Hoy is published by Tribune Co., one of the country’s premier media companies, operating businesses in broadcasting, publishing and on the Internet. It reaches more than 80 percent of U.S. households and is the only media company with television stations, newspapers and Web sites in the nation’s top three markets.
