Watch Katy Perry perform ‘Roar’ and ‘Walking on Air’ on ‘SNL’
With just over a week until the release of “Prism,” Katy Perry took to “Saturday Night Live” over the weekend to perform two songs from the upcoming album. And the singer took quite a bit of gear with her, too.
For “Roar,” the new disc’s lead single, Perry converted the “SNL” stage into a leafy jungle like the one featured in the song’s video, while her band donned animal costumes straight out of some 4-year-old’s birthday party.
Later in the show (which was hosted by Bruce Willis), she traded the palm trees for flowing white curtains that gave the set something of a late-’80s/early-’90s nightclub look -- appropriate for the openly Technotronic-like vibe of “Walking on Air,” one of two additional songs (along with “Dark Horse”) that Perry has released ahead of “Prism’s” scheduled arrival on Oct. 22.

That day she’s set to perform an album-release show at Clear Channel Media’s new iHeartRadio Theater in Burbank, and on Oct. 23 she’ll headline a concert at the Hollywood Bowl benefiting the Young Survival Coalition, which “offers resources, connections and outreach” to “young women who are diagnosed with breast cancer,” according to its website. (Other acts on that bill include Ellie Goulding and Kacey Musgraves.)
Stay tuned this week to Pop & Hiss for a feature story on Perry and “Prism,” and watch “Roar” and “Walking on Air” below.
