Kendall + Kylie collection set to pop-up at retail during New York Fashion Week
Fashion is awash with knockoffs, and apparently Kendall and Kylie Jenner aren’t above borrowing an idea or two from their brother-in-law Kanye West. The sisters are opening a pop-up shop for their Kendall + Kylie collection on Sept. 7 at the Samsung 837 space in the Meatpacking District. They will be greeting fans and shopper at the 837 Washington Street space, according to a spokeswoman.
Earlier this month West tweeted news that he was opening 21 “Pablo” temporary stores around the globe with a map illustrating the locations. Of the 13 across the U.S., the downtown New York one at 393 Broadway in TriBeCa caused one of the greatest frenzies. Other outposts popped up in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia; Cape Town; Toronto; Berlin; London; Singapore, and Amsterdam. Though West’s Yeezy Season 2 sneakers were not available for purchase, the shops offered cult T-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, jackets, hats and hoodies decorated in the signature Gothic-style font.
Kendall Jenner ranked third on Forbes’ 2016 highest-paid models list, having seen her earnings jump 150 percent to $10 million compared to last year. The rankings tracked models’ pay between June 1, 2015, and June 1, 2016, before fees and taxes. Her 64.5 million Instagram followers accounted for the lion’s share of the 20-model list’s combined 200 million Instagram followers. That social media dominance has led to deals with Estée Lauder and Calvin Klein among numerous other brands. Jenner’s fellow selfie-loving sister Kylie has her own social media might with 73.4 million Instagram followers, many of whom buy her signature lip kit and flurry of other endorsed products.
After debuting their first junior sportswear collection exclusively at PacSun in 2012, the sisters collaborated with Topshop three years later for a California-inspired exclusive collection for the British chain. For spring 2016, they introduced their first ready-to-wear collection and launched their first footwear line through a deal with Marc Fisher.
But Caitlyn Jenner’s daughters won’t be the only members of the Kardashian-Jenner gang making the rounds during New York Fashion Week. Their sister Kim Kardashian and her rapper husband are expected at Jeremy Scott’s runway show, along with their sister Khloé. Handlers for Khloé have RSVP’d for her and her rumored boyfriend Trey Songz, according to one New York publicist.
