Best and worst looks from the SAG Awards

At the SAG Awards, Lady Gaga, fresh from her weekend Las Vegas residency (where she sang “Shallow” with “A Star Is Born” co-star Bradley Cooper), evoked a modern-day showgirl in a stunning high-slit Dior Haute Couture gown with shredded tulle detailing.

Laverne Cox served up a divine (and bejeweled) back thanks to this reddish gown (with a short train) by Zac Posen at the 25th SAG Awards. The look made our showstoppers list because of its smart design and fresh vibe.

“Will & Grace” star Megan Mullally, host of the 25th SAG Awards at the Shrine Auditorium, had a standout sartorial moment with her black-and-gold Alexander McQueen gown, which she told “ET” she bought online.

“Mary Poppins Returns” star Emily Blunt delivered a mega-sized take on popping her collar by wearing a custom peony crystal-embroidered ruffle gown from Michael Kors Collection to the 25^th Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Darren Criss, star of “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story,” stood out on the 25th SAG Awards’ silver carpet in his custom Emporio Armani navy blue and silver one-button notch lapel evening jacket, midnight-blue trousers, white evening shirt and bow tie.

Gemma Chan stayed on top of one of the top trends of the SAG Awards — that would be the ruffles trend — by wearing this modern and sophisticated soft pink, high-low Oscar De La Renta gown with a dramatic lower half that appeared to be covered in what resembled feathers.

By wearing this voluminous ombre gown, DJ “Shangela” Pierce is fierce in a multitude of favorite trends from the 2019 SAG Awards. This look puts her squarely in our showstopper category.

Julia Garner looks as delicious as a Girl Scout Thin Mint cookie in this sophisticated mint-green Zac Posen gown at the 25th SAG Awards. The off-the-shoulder dress with its short train is absolutely on our showstopper list.

Angela Bassett graces us with some show-stopping royal fashion with her fringed Georges Chakra Couture gown, Tadashi Shoji bag, Casadei shoes and Kimberly McDonald jewels at the 25th SAG Awards in Los Angeles.

Rachel Weisz appeared to celebrate the SAG Awards’ 25th anniversary and its silver carpet at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles with her stunning Givenchy look by Clare Waight Keller: a symmetrical cape in black silk velvet and a skirt in silver dévoré velvet (it’s embroidered with gradations of crystals and waxed, silver-tinted ostrich feathers) with a silver metal belt and black leather platform shoes.

“GLOW’s” Ellen Wong wore a showstopper in this stunning black-to-silver ombre gown at the 25th SAG Awards. What a standout on the SAG Awards’ silver carpet.

Patricia Clarkson made our list of showstoppers for the 25th SAG Awards by wearing a cream-colored chiffon gown (featuring a bust showered with intricate embroidery as well as embroidered floor-length sleeves) from Zuhair Murad’s fall 2018 couture collection. The gown looked fit for a Hollywood queen.

“Grown-ish” star Yara Shahidi was a definite showstopper at the SAG Awards. She brought style to the carpet with her Fendi Couture tulle plissé dress embellished with beads and spiral sequins embroidery.

Henry Golding from “Crazy Rich Asians” pulled out all the fashionable stops with his head-to-toe look by Tom Ford: a sophisticated gold jacquard cocktail jacket, a pique plastron evening shirt, mother-of-pearl with yellow-gold stud-and-cufflink set, a light pink silk scarf, evening pants and black patent lace-up shoes.

Sandra Oh brought glamour (and Sunday’s one-shoulder trend) to the SAG Awards in a show-stopping embellished crepe gown from the autumn/winter 2018 collection of British designer Jenny Packham.

Faithe Herman from “This Is Us” and the upcoming “Shazam!” film combined two trends we’ve seen this awards season -- the bow and the train -- into one adorable look at the 25th SAG Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

Anthony Ramos from “A Star Is Born” hit the sartorial sweet spot with his velvet bow tie and custom eye-popping David Hart suit, making him one of our showstoppers at the 25th SAG Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. We appreciate his modern twist on a traditional red-carpet look.

Gayle Rankin of “GLOW” opted for one of the big SAG Awards fashion trends: the bow. Her bow was actually an embellished detail on the front of her red gown. Rankin’s showstopper rocking-horse clutch also caught our attention.

One of the first on the carpet at the 25th SAG Awards was Harry Shum Jr. from “Crazy Rich Asians,” wearing a brown shawl-collar Armani tuxedo and a cream-colored bespoke shirt by Anto Beverly Hills.

Sophia Bush whispers “nightgown” to the crowd with her Monique Lhuillier nightie-influenced dress with a sheer cape and overlay at the 25th SAG Awards in L.A.

Usually a red-carpet-fashion favorite, Lupita Nyong’o gave us pause at the SAG Awards by wearing this confusing Vera Wang gown that said one thing on top and another on the bottom.

Michael B. Jordan’s look was reminiscent of an earlier awards-show look. For the SAG Awards, the “Black Panther” star wore this befuddling colorful harness from Louis Vuitton men’s creative director Virgil Abloh. (Timothée Chalamet wore a dark-colored version of the Vuitton harness to the Golden Globes earlier this month.)

Kate Nash gave us bright pink for days in a hyper-detailed gown, which included an embellished, interlocking heart detail, at the 25th SAG Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

Comedian and actress Luenell has officially left us speechless in her multi-colored, all-over-print textured look at the 25th SAG Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Her look was perfect for a trip to Hawaii, not a red-carpet affair.

Rachel Bloom from “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” is also on trend with a muted, neutral fabric at Sunday’s 25th SAG Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, the look makes our jaw-droppers list because the gown isn’t quite as captivating as Blum’s sense of humor or singing chops.
