‘Hungry for France’ and steak frites, Eveleigh wine dinner, De Porres pop-up

Adventures by the Book hosts Paris-based food writer Alec Lobrano with a steak frites dinner at l’Assiette on Melrose on Sunday, Oct. 19. West Hollywood’s Eveleigh is hosting a winemaker dinner with Santa Ynez wineries Lieu Dit Wines and Storm Wines, and a menu from chef Jared Levy on Tuesday, Sept. 30. South-American-meets-the-American-South pop-up series De Porres returns to Chung King Road in Chinatown on Sunday. Four courses will recall Sunday suppers in Louisville: sardines and spicy pickled vegetables, corn and okra, pork, candied yams and peach cobbler to finish. De Porres is run by Danielle Bell (of Louisville) and Pablo Osorio (of Lima, Peru). Bell writes about a special meeting between her Memphis-born grandmother and Osorio in an essay here.
