LOS ANGELES, May 31, 2007 - The Los Angeles Times Media Group today announced that Scott Sullivan, former chief information officer for Edmunds.com and senior vice president of technology operations and engineering for Yahoo! / Overture Services, has been named chief technology officer for latimes.com. In his new position, Sullivan will play a key leadership role in the company’s overall interactive and print transformation as it moves into a phase of aggressive new online product development and improved infrastructure support over the next year. “Scott Sullivan is the missing ingredient as the Los Angeles Times looks to aggressively leverage the newsroom in the digital age,” said Bob Bellack, senior vice president of the Los Angeles Times Media Group. “He has distinguished himself as a seasoned executive with a host of complementary experience and he is bringing his track record in building large and successful internet businesses with him to lead latimes.com into the future.”
In addition, Sullivan will serve as a vice president of technology for Tribune Interactive, a subsidiary of the Tribune Company that manages the interactive operations of all Tribune newspapers and Web sites, including latimes.com, as well as national network sites such as CareerBuilder.com, Cars.com and Apartments.com. Sullivan began his career with UPS managing the company’s data processing operations. He later joined QAD Incorporated as director of global information services followed by a brief time at HomeStore.com as vice president of technology operations. In 2002, Sullivan joined Yahoo! / Overture Services and was quickly promoted to senior vice president of technology operations and engineering where he increased service levels, improved revenue performance, enhanced product quality and decreased product development time for the Web portal.
