Brandy Bray scored four goals and goalie Miriam Quintenilla made 15 saves to lead visiting El Rancho (19-1), which extended its winning streak to five games. Sharayah Hernandez scored two goals and Kimberly Trafford and Berlyn Sanchez each added one goal for the Dons, who led, 6-2, at halftime. Brianna Wilson, Julia Sancher, Melissa McKown and Sarah Woods each scored one goal and goalie Jessica Reimal recorded four saves for Bonita (11-10).

June Becktell had four goals and Dana Parola chippescored three to lead host Irvine (6-13). Edison is 5-14.

Newport Harbor 13, Irvine University 2
Jessica Ball had four goals, three steals and two assists and Melissa Wheeler and Kally Lucas each tallied two goals for Newport Harbor (16-2) in a nonleague victory over visitng Irvine University. Sara Wigal and Malory Sussman scorerd the only goals for the Trojans.

Peninsula 16, Laguna Beach 2
Melissa Mueller had a season-high seven goals, including four in the third quarter, for Peninsula (20-4), which posted its 11th consecutive victory since a 9-3 loss to Laguna Beach on Dec. 27.

Erin O’Donnell added five goals, including three in the fourth quarter, and senior goalie Natalie Kim had 16 saves for Panthers, who led, 8-0, at halftime.

O’’Donnell, a senior at two meters, has 66 goals this season. Mueller, a senior driver, has 45 goals, and sophomore Tekla Beckmann is third on the team with 26. Kim has has 271 saves.

Breanna Duplisea scored both goals for Laguna Beach (14-7), which played without top player Addison Doud, sidelined by illness.

Laguna Beach is ranked No. 3 in CIF Southern Section Divison II; Peninsula is No. 7.

Jordan Anae had four goals and two steals and Katlin Kubas scored three first-half goals to lead host and No. 5 Corona del Mar (11-7), which led, 8-2, at halftime.

El Segundo 13, Arcadia 3
Senior Katy Lawlor had eight goals in the first three quarters for El Segundo (16-9). Lawlor has scored 14 goals in her last two games. Danielle Clemmer added three goals and Markayla Quane had 18 saves for El Segundo. Arcadia falls to 7-10.

Newport Harbor 6, Long Beach Wilson 3
Carolyn Conway scored a goal in each of the first three quarters to lead Newport Harbor over Long Beach Wilson in a matchup of two of the top-five teams in the Southland.

Conway, a senior center forward who has signed with Indiana, opened the scoring with her first goal. She broke a 2-2 tie to give the Sailors a 3-2 halftime edge with her second goal. Her third score, with 5:44 left in the third period, gave Newport Harbor its largest lead to that point at 4-2.

Anne Belden and Ashling Taylor also scored third-quarter goals for Newport Harbor, ranked No. 2 in the Southland by The Times as well as No. 2 in the Southern Section Division I coaches poll.

The Sailors (15-2) were contained by Wilson’s aggressive pressing defense. Both teams used up the 35-second shot clock several times without getting an attempt, and many attempts came from the outside.

“They’re a really physical, tough team. We haven’t played against that good of a press before,” said Newport Harbor assistant Jason Lynch, who guided the Sailors in place of Coach Bill Barnett. Barnett is in Brazil this week, serving as a scout for the U.S. national men’s water polo team.

Wilson (14-5), ranked No. 4 by The Times and No. 6 in Division I, missed 13 of 16 shots. Newport Harbor was slightly better in 15 shot attempts.

“We kind of broke down a little bit in the third quarter because we were getting frustrated because our shots weren’t going,” said Wilson junior attacker Lauren Silver.

Silver, who leads the Bruins with 37 goals this season, was held scoreless and missed six shots.
